FAQs
We like to help you relax before your treatment by guiding you through some of the frequently asked questions that people often have about a physiotherapy or Sports Massage session.
We hope this helps you prepare for your appointment however do feel free to contact one of the team if your question isn't listed.
What will happen at my first appointment?
You’ll get the time to tell us the full story of your problem – no detail is too small.
It helps us if you can tell us when the problem started; what you think caused it; what makes it worse; what makes it better; and what treatment or diagnostic procedures (if any) you might have had already.
We then go through a detailed assessment to establish a diagnosis and treatment plan to best manage your condition.
Will it hurt?
No but sometimes the treatment process can cause discomfort. This may be an exercise you are advised to do or a treatment technique the therapist uses. You are always in control. Just let the therapist know if the sensation is too strong for you.
Will I have to do any excercises?
You’ll get advice on how best to improve your problem and often some specific exercises will help with that process.
Committing to doing your part of the treatment is an essential part of your improvement.
Will I get an exercise programme?
Your exercises will be unique to you, we do not use standard exercise sheets. You will be emailed a link with your exercises. If you prefer we can write things down for you, just let us know your preference.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing in which you can move around easily – gym gear or tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt are great but not essential.
You will NOT be asked to undress to your underwear.
Do I need to see my doctor first?
No, you can see a Chartered Physio or Sports Therapist in private practice without a doctor's referral.
